My name is Brian Tracy. Not too long ago, I made a shocking discovery that

I Flunked Out Of High School
I'm someone who didn't like school. There was something about sitting in a
classroom all day listening to my teachers rattling off fact after boring

I was more of a "hands-on" kind of person. I wanted to get in there and DO
SOMETHING, not sit there twiddling my thumbs all day.
Studying was not my cup of tea. And when I tried to do it, it was just too
dull, too hard, or a combination of both.
It was so bad I flunked out of high school at age 18.
Right away, I started doing the kind of things I liked doing. I liked
getting my hands dirty, so I took on a lot of blue-collar jobs. I labored
on farms, stacked lumber in a sawmill, washed dishes, etc. I even dug
wells at one point.
But ultimately, I knew I wanted to get my life "out of the ditch", so to
speak; I didn't want to keep "digging holes for myself" for the rest of my
life.
I thought long and hard about what I could do to make more money and
improve my lot in life.
Sudden Insight
Then one day it hit me out of nowhere, like a sudden flash:
"In order to achieve something you haven't done before, you must develop a
skill you haven't had before."
It was at that precise moment my attitude toward learning changed.
Until then, learning for me was a chore; but suddenly I began to view it
as necessary for the fulfillment of my dreams.
So I became totally
committed to upgrading my skills and knowledge.
Here's what happened:
I developed successful careers in sales, marketing, real estate
development, investing, importation, distribution, and management
consulting;
I
earned my high school diploma, bachelor's degree, and went on to earn my
master's degree;
I became chief operating officer of a $265 million company;
I became a highly respected authority on the development of human
potential and personal effectiveness, and I founded my own company so I
could teach what I learned to others;
Through it all, I became a millionaire many times over.
These kinds of results still amaze me to this day. And I achieved them
because I followed a proven success system. The key part of that system
was a total commitment to learning.
At the beginning of my success journey, I didn't have a specific learning
strategy. But I did have the determination to develop one.
It took thousands of hours of study and hard work. It took years of
spinning my wheels trying to figure out the most effective learning
method. But finally, I discovered what I was looking for.

What I found was truly shocking.
The research I uncovered was telling me I had genius potential - that I
could learn everything I needed to learn faster than I ever thought was
possible.
Not only could I double and triple my knowledge in 2-3 years, I could even
quadruple it!
It was a mind-blowing discovery for me. Because of my complete dedication

cup holder, which recently snapped off. The tech support rep tried
valiantly to identify this mysterious cup holder that, as the user said,
"came with the computer".
To help the rep understand, the caller stated, "It says '4X' on it." Upon
hearing this, the tech support rep realized it wasn't a cup holder, it was
the CD ROM tray!
Whether or not the legend is true, it's an example of what can happen when
you don't expand your knowledge. The caller was completely "behind the
times". Fact is, the rate of change is so rapid today, anyone who doesn't
make an effort to "keep up" will be left behind faster than they ever
imagined.

Since knowledge is doubling every two to three years, almost every skill
and piece of information you have today will become obsolete.
Peter Drucker, Robert Nasbitt, Tom Peters and other famous business
authorities agree: your ability to learn new skills is the single most

Your Mind Is Like A Mansion

Nobel Prize-Winning Research

find his car in a parking lot.
2) Second, intelligence is not IQ as much as it is a set of abilities and
skills. For example, imagine a brilliant Harvard graduate with a PhD in
nuclear physics. He's driving down a lonely stretch of road when his car
breaks down and stops. There's almost no traffic on the road.
After about an hour, a young man comes along in an old pick-up. He stops
and asks the professor if he's having problems.
When he learns what happened, he lifts up the hood of the professor's car,
checks out a few things, jiggles a few wires, makes a couple adjustments
and tells the professor to give it a try. The professor turns the key in
the ignition and the car comes to life again.
Which person is smarter? It depends on the situation. When it comes to
fixing a car, the young man is more intelligent. When it comes to nuclear
physics, the Harvard professor wins hands down.
3) There's one more critically important idea - namely, you need to work
to develop and improve your intelligence. Intelligence is like a muscle.
It can be made to grow with use. If you make a conscious effort, you will
become more intelligent.
